Tuesday we stopped in Salt Lake City to work out at Bally's as we left, we saw signs that said the Interstate was closed in Wyoming. We decided to drop down to Colorado and give that a try. All seemed fine so far as we made it to Grand Junction and stayed the night.. Wednesday we made it as far as Frisco which is about 75 miles west of Denver. At this point all roads where closed due to adverse weather conditions. Turns out the largest snowfall in two years hit the city and some locations received 6 feet of snow! There was no way to continue east at this point. There were trucks and cars everywhere as people were sitting around waiting to get back on the road. We spent Wednesday in a Walmart parking lot doing crossword puzzles, reading and taking naps. Thankfully Frisco is very close to Breckenridge where two good friends of ours live, Emmit and Nadine Cosgrove. We left a message for them and they called back in the evening. At that time we went to there house to wait out the storm. They were also waiting for roads to open as they plan to drive down to Texas today to play in the disc golf doubles event.

It is now 11 am and we gave up on interstate 70. Last we heard they were blasting for avalanches along the 68 mile stretch of closed interstate. No word as to when it will open. Instead we are driving south on highway 9 to highway 24 which will take us through Colorado Springs and will eventually meet up with the 70 again. We are following a long line of vehicles and trucks as others are trying to escape as well. This is a winding two lane road with drifts much taller than the van along the way. It will be nice to hit the planes and have a few days of rest at home.
