Gator
County Classic
Gainesville, FL
After a relaxing week in Palm Harbor with my Great Aunt and Uncle, we headed up to Gainesville. The weather forecast was good for the weekend. The temperatures were down a bit to the low 70's and there was no rain. The course was in good shape. The course is not particularly hard, as all but two holes are birdiable by the men. However, there are quite a few holes that follow tricky paths through the trees. Most players come of the course shaking there heads because of all the should-have-beens. Still the top players are shooting around 10 under each round.
This event followed the traditional layout of two rounds on Saturday and another two on Sunday. The event didn't quite fill. There were 40 pro men and 5 pro women. I played a great game off the tee, but couldn't complete anything. Lesli played beautifully and hit nearly every shot within 70 feet of the basket. In the end, Lesli's deadly putting kept here a couple strokes out of my reach. Shawn's game was similar to mine in that his drives were on the mark but he also had trouble putting the disc in the basket. He finished in the last cashing spot.
