This event was held at the beautiful Token Creek Course. The course has nicely manicured fairways defined by tall prairie grass along the sides. There are quite a few holes over 400 feet that require accurate drives and well-executed upshots for the par. It is a very nice course and one that I always look forward to playing. This years event was held over three days. The participation was down significantly in the pro divisions. The weather was hot and muggy with rain threatening a couple of times, but mostly falling before or after our rounds.

On Friday I started of horribly by missing an easy put on the first hole then taking another bogie on hole two by putting myself behind a shrub on my drive. I thought things were looking up when my next drive bounced off the front of the basket for a near miss hole-in-one. Unfortunately, it rolled away a bit (not very far though) and I missed that putt too. It was a frustrating start. I managed to pull it together a bit the rest of the round and got a whole lot of pars on the longer holes to salvage a somewhat respectable score that put me in second behind Des who had an incredible round shooting 3 under par.

Because we were playing three days and only playing one round each day, we had staggered starts. I teed off early on Friday and finished my round before Shawn even started which allowed me to caddy for him. He started off really well and made some big putts. His only problem during the round was throwing his drive on hole 11 to low which meant that it didn't have time to hyzer back to the fairway and ended up out of bounds. He took a double bogie on that hole and coasted to a 2 under for the round which was only 3 strokes off the lead.

On Saturday I only had a slightly better start than the day before. Once again I had a hard time with my putts and bogeyed the last hole to finish on a down note. Shawn had an excellent round shooting a bogie-free 6 under which jumped him up to third place. He stayed out of trouble and made a few 50 foot putts to card such a good round.

Sunday morning we woke up to an electrical storm. Thankfully the rain passed quickly and play was only delayed a half-hour. I felt like a broken record as I played about the same this last round missing my putts and finished tied with Lesli for second with 9 holes left. Shawn had another good round and gained ground on most of the men by shooting 4 under which put him in second going into the final 9.

Just as our last regulation round was ending, the rain was beginning to fall. Miraculously, it stopped almost exactly when the final 9 began and 8 of the final 9 holes where rain-free. In the final, neither Shawn nor I were able to turn it on. It was still the putting for me and Shawn found the OB on the second hole which gave him a quick 2 stroke deficit. In the end I remained tied with Lesli for second and Shawn finished in forth.
