This weekend was we played on top of Aspen mountain on one of the most extreme courses in the world. It truly is beyond description. It is simply breathtaking. the views are amazing. The tournament is unlike any other I have attended and the course can be grueling, unfriendly and yet one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf you've ever played. This year there was a record number of pro women totaling 11. Most players meet at the bottom of the mountain and rode the gondola to the top. Shawn and I actually drove up the back side of the mountain and stayed on top for the weekend which was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. As everyone reaches the top, they immediately go out to their holes. As soon as everyone makes it to the top, the round begins which is around 10:15 or 10:30. The course consists of 22 holes, 9 of which are epic. There are a few holes where you throw down double black diamond ski runs. There is one hole where you throw directly up such a run. There are instances where you can throw your putter 600 feet and there are times where you are thrilled if you can throw your driver 200 ft. The round finishes around 4 pm which is pushing the time limit because the gondolas stop running at 4:30. I can't say enough good about this course and this tournament. It was an unforgettable weekend and I am already looking forward to next years event.
