Women in Disc Golf

Although the number of disc golf enthusiast grows annually, the number of women playing the game has been slow to increase. According to 1997 PDGA records, only 7% of current PDGA members are women. Of that 7%, nearly two thirds of those women are playing at an amateur level and the other third competes professionally.
As a women in the sport, the above statistic seems baffling. Why aren't more women playing? In an attempt to address this question, in 1997 the PDGA created a Women's Committee. The committee consisted of at least one female disc golfer from each PDGA region. Unfortunately, the committee was ineffective and has thus become completely inactive.
This page is meant to be a vehicle for communication on issues involving women in disc golf. It is also a means to recognize and appreciate the women in our sport.
